CLUB RULES
SEQUENCE OF DUTIES FOR EVERY ROW
Before removing the boat from the rack, the following positions must be allocated:
- DIRECTOR - the person who will direct the boat into the water
- CAPTAIN - the person who will be in command on the water
- COX - the person who will steer the boat
- STROKE - the person who will sit in stroke seat and set the stroke rhythm of the boat
- NAVIGATOR - the person who will be in bow position and be responsible for the course and avoidance of all hazards.
THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES MUST BE FOLLOWED AT EACH ROW:
- SIGN OUT - Each boat must be signed out with the time and crew list. Following the row, each boat must be signed in, detailing any damage or problems.
- COACH/SAFETY BOAT - The Safety boat is always to be the first boat taken and placed into the water along with life jackets sufficient for all intending to be out on the water.
- BLADES/OARS - To be taken down to the dock next. Blades are to be placed with their tips down to minimize paint damage to blade. Never carry the boat and blades at the same time. Always carry the blades with the blade in front, maximum two at a time.
- STRETCHERS/SLINGS - To be set up at location where the boat is to be washed after the row.
- CHECK - Always check boat and rigging for loose nuts and missing bolts, that the seats are in place and the vent covers are closed, before carrying the boat from the compound.
- WASHING BOATS and BLADES - Each boat needs to be washed along with riggers and slides following every row. Blades need to be rinsed before they are placed back on the blade rack. These procedures are necessary to maintain the longevity of our equiment as well as a courtesy to the following rowers who will be using the equipment. Please note any damage in the equipment(s) in the log book.
- RACKING BOATS - Before placing the boats on the racks, check that the vent covers are open. Please tie down the boats on the racks.
