SAFETY REMINDERS
Please take a few moments to refresh or familiarize yourself with the following SAFETY INFORMATION:
- NRC RULES & RESPONSIBILITIES (these are posted at the compond above the message board).
- NRC EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN (posted in the message board at the compound. There is also a copy in the red binder and in the equipment box of each safety boat). Go to www.rowingcanada.org, clink on SAFETY. There are some good info in this site to peruse.
- SAFETY BOAT LAUNCHED AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH COACHED ROW. Ensure that all safety equipment are complete and with the boat: PFD worn by coach, PFDs for rowers, whistle, oar, bailer, ladder, equipment box, cell phone if available.
- EACH ROWER IS RESPONSIBLE TO ENSURE THEY HAVE A PFD either their own waistpack or club issue in the shell or safety boat.
- DURING CLUB/COACHE ROWS ALWAYS ROW WITHIN SIGHT OF THE SAFETY BOAT OR A BUDDY BOAT. During Coached Rows, please respect coaches' request to do so.
- DURING SHORTENED DAYLIGHT HOURS be off the water prior to sunset. We do not have a light source at the compound. Equipment should be returned before dark.
- COACHED ROWS ARE 2 HOURS LONG. Please try to arrive a few minutes early to organize your crew. Ensure that boats are quick off the dock and prompt to return at the end of the row. Please return to the dock at least 30 minutes before the end of the session. This gives time to return the equipment and lock up the compound.
- HELP CLEARING THE DOCK & CARRYING BOATS IS ALWAYS APPRECIATED. Singles or heavier quads may need help. Organize launch and return with this in mind.
